House address numbers come in a large variety of styles and sizes so that you can create just the right look for your home. Whether you choose to use wooden, plastic, or metal numbers, you can find just the right design to match your plans. Hanging the address numbers for your home is not difficult, and you can complete the job in less than an hour, saving yourself the time and expense of having someone else complete the work for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • House address numbers
  • Graph paper
  • Pencil
  • Tape
  • Hammer
  • Nail
  • Tack nails
  1. Step 1

Lay the house address numbers out on a piece of graph paper, and position them with the correct spacing---that is, the way you want them to look when they are hung.

  2. Step 2

Mark the position of the numbers on the paper by using a pencil to apply a mark through the nail holes at the top and bottom of the numbers onto the paper.

  3. Step 3

Tape the graph paper over the surface of the area where you want to hang the house address numbers.

  4. Step 4

Place the tip of a nail on one of the pencil marks you made designating a nail hole in one of the numbers and, using a hammer, lightly tap the nail to mark the surface on which you are going to hang the number.

  5. Step 5

Repeat step 4 for each of the marks on the graph paper until you have made a mark on the hanging surface for the top and bottom of each number.

  6. Step 6

Remove the graph paper and use tack nails and a hammer to secure each number to the mounting surface in the set marks you made with the nail until all the numbers are attached.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try a variety of layouts on the graph paper until you get the exact layout that you prefer before marking the surface where you will hang the numbers.
