Step 1
Add a vintage hankie to a shadowbox display for background color and as part of the memorabilia. You can spread out the hankie to lighten up the background of your display and attach it with a straight pin on each corner. If you prefer to let the hankie dangle from the center as if it were being carried, you can use a safety pin to attach it to the felt background of the shadowbox. Include vintage photos, jewelry and other items relating to the person or the time period for your display. Attach photos, jewelry and hard objects with strips of self-adhesive Velcro.
-
Step 2
Frame a single vintage hankie in a vintage or vintage-looking frame to decorate a wall in your bathroom or an occasional table in a bedroom or hallway. Look for vintage hankies in thrift stores, antique malls, estate sales, online auctions and your grandmother's dresser. To frame the hankie, spread it onto the cardboard backing that came with the frame. Attach the fabric to the cardboard with a drop of glue from a hot glue gun in each corner. Hot glue is easier to remove than other adhesives, if you ever decide to take the hankie out of the frame. You can use a mat for emphasis or simply place the hankie in the frame.
-
Step 3
Place a vintage hankie on a table top as a doily for your collectibles and other decorative objects. The hankie will help to highlight the object as well as add decoration to your table top. Select hankies and collectibles that are color-coordinated and that are compatible in size. Whatever object you place on the hankie should not cover the beauty of the handkerchief.

Step 4
Include vintage hankies as an accent to your doll or china display. Casually drape the hankie over a doll's arm or between its hands for effect. Add hankies beside place settings in an antique china display as napkins.
