Rose petals and rose oil are highly nourishing and soothing to the skin. By incorporating rose petals and oil into facial cream, you can easily deliver the properties of the rose to the skin. Making and using a handmade rose petal cream also allows the skin to be softened and hydrated without being saturated with the chemicals that are often found in commercially produced facial creams. It is important to follow the steps to making rose petal cream exactly to ensure that the cream remains fluffy and light.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blender
  • Double boiler
  • Handled pot
  • 4 ounces of pure beeswax pellets
  • 2 ounces of aloe vera gel
  • 2 ounces of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of pure rose essential oil
  • 1/4 cup lightly chopped rose petals
  • Wooden spoon
  • 2 glass candy thermometers
  • Lidded glass jars
  1. Step 1

Pour the beeswax pellets into the top portion of a double boiler and pour water into the bottom portion of the boiler. Heat the beeswax over medium-high heat so that the wax melts completely, but do not overheat the wax. Place a glass candy thermometer into the wax to measure the temperature. The wax should be removed from the heat once it reaches 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Step 2

Pour the olive oil into a handled pot and heat it over medium heat. Place a candy thermometer into the pot to measure the temperature. When the temperature of the oil and the beeswax both reach 110 degrees Fahrenheit, they can be mixed together without causing separation after they cool.

  3. Step 3

Pour the olive oil and the melted beeswax into a blender and blend them on high for five minutes. Pour the aloe vera gel and the rose oil into the blender and blend the mixture again for an additional five minutes. Pour in the chopped rose petals and blend the mixture for a third time lightly on the lowest blender setting.

  4. Step 4

Place the glass jars onto a flat surface and carefully pour the rose petal cream into the jars, leaving around 1/4 inch empty at the top of the jars. Let the jars remain open for the cream to cool down completely, which will prevent humidity from becoming trapped onto the cream from the heat. Once cool, the jars can be capped and stored for future use. Rose petal cream can safely be used multiple times per day on even the most sensitive skin types and makes a wonderful and unique gift for any occasion.
