Silicone pans and muffin tins are gaining popularity in the home kitchen. Cookware made from silicone cooks your food more evenly and without sticking, but when the silicone becomes dirty cleaning can be difficult. You shouldn't use harsh soaps or abrasive scrubbers on silicone, but soaking the dish in mild detergent and warm water can help loosen grease stains. If soaking is not enough, a paste of baking soda and water will usually do the trick.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mild dish soap
  • Large bowl or sink
  • Dishcloth
  • Baking soda
  1. Step 1

Mix 2 or 3 tablespoons of mild dish soap with warm water in a large bowl or sink. Soak the stained silicone in the solution for 30 to 45 minutes, and the use a dishcloth to wipe away the grease residue.

  2. Step 2

Repeat the soaking process if the first soaking only removes part of the grease. If soaking does not loosen the grease continue to step three. If your silicone is clean after soaking, allow it to air dry.

  3. Step 3

Make a paste with 2 to 4 tablespoons of baking soda and a small amount of water. Add water slowly until the baking soda forms a thick paste.

  4. Step 4

Rub the baking soda paste into the grease stain using the pads of your fingers. Allow the paste to soak into the stain for 15 to 20 minutes, and then rinse the silicone clean. Repeat the paste scrubbing until the grease is gone. Leave the clean dish to air dry.
