How to Get Rare Pets in Neopets
Neopets are virtual pets you can own in a fictional world called Neopia. Neopets come in all shapes and sizes, so you can choose whichever suits you best. Some Neopets are more elusive than others. Rare Neopets include animals such as the Draik, Koi and Krawk. Acquiring a limited edition Neopet is a lot of work, but with the right techniques you may be able to get one.

Access the Neopian Pound. A page with three doors will load. Click the pink door closest to the left to enter the adoption center. The first page will load, showing you three Neopets. Scan through this and the following pages to see if any limited edition Neopets are available; this technique is often referred to as "pound surfing" by Neopet aficionados. Although it is unlikely that someone would willingly abandon a limited edition Neopet because of their rarity, you may get lucky.

Perform special tasks or purchase special items to get a limited edition Neopet. For example, a Grundo--one of these limited edition Neopets--can only be attained by visiting the space center to adopt one. Draiks, another rare Neopet, can only be attained by hatching a Draik egg or using a special morphing potion on an existing Neopet. Some of these techniques may be costly, however.

Visit the Create a Pet page when you log in to Neopets. Limited numbers of rare Neopets are released on certain days, called "pet days." Visit the Neopian Calendar page (see the "Resources" section) to find the specific calendar days for each limited edition Neopet. You'll have to be quick: Only a small number of the limited edition Neopets are available on the special calendar days.

Tips & Warnings
Scan through the Giving Tree for morphing potions. You'll have to be very fast--a lot of items in the Giving Tree inventory disappear in less than a second.
Have a friend help your on pet days. If you are not fast enough to get a limited edition pet, your friend may be. You can then visit the Neopian Pound and transfer the Neopet.
Any pets adopted from the Neopian Pound retain the name given by their previous owner. You may end up with a limited edition Neopet that has an unpleasant name.
Do not use the "Abandon" option in the Neopian Pound to swap rare pets! Only use the "Transfer" option. If you choose "Abandon," there is no guarantee your friend will get the Neopet you are trying to transfer before someone else.
