Get Rid of a Candida Rash

A Candida rash can appear anywhere on the body and also within a baby’s diaper. Also known as candidiasis, these rashes appear when there is breakdown of the skin’s outer layer or when there is a chemical imbalance in the body. Candida thrives in dark and damp areas. A yeast rash can appear on the skin, within skin folds, in the mouth (thrush), as well as within the genital region of both women and men. Here’s how to treat Candida rash effectively:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Clean the rash with soap and water. Fully dry the area.

  2. Step 2

Apply an over-the-counter Clotrimazole (Lotrimin) cream which can be applied to the Candida rash. This is an anti-fungal medication that is often used to treat other conditions such as athlete’s foot and jock itch. However, it is also effective in treating yeast skin rashes.

  3. Step 3

Apply corticosteroid directly to the rash and then add a bit of petroleum jelly to the top of the anti-yeast agent. Do this in place of Clotrimazole treatments or in between treatments.

  4. Step 4

If you are unable to clear up your Candida rash at home, visit your doctor to get a prescription for Diflucan or prescription strength anti-fungal creams. Ketoconazole may also be prescribed to apply to your rash.

  5. Step 5

Take probiotics in either tablet or liquid form. You can also eat yogurt to replace the beneficial bacteria.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can treat a yeast diaper rash with powders such as Mycostatin, Nilstat, Nystat-Rx, or antifungal creames.
  • A Candida rash in skin folds is called intertrigo. If you are suffering with this type of yeast rash, you can either use the methods above but you can also apply a drying solution such as Burrow’s compresses and apply several times a day.
