If you're looking for an easy way to add more protein to your diet, protein shakes are a good option to consider. They can add quality protein without adding a lot of carbs or fat. They don't have to add a lot of calories, either; you can easily make a tasty, nutritious shake with around 200 calories. A blackberry banana protein shake is one tasty option.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 ounces skim milk
  • protein powder (vanilla or banana flavor)
  • ½ cup frozen blackberries
  • ½ banana
  • blender
  1. Step 1

You can use any brand of protein powder that you like, either vanilla or banana flavor. Look for something low in carbs, fat, and sugar. Look for something that will give you about 20 grams of protein in one shake. Whey or soy isolate protein powder will be best absorbed by most people.

  2. Step 2

Pour the skim milk and one serving of protein powder into the blender. Read the label on the protein powder to see what one serving size is. Usually it's one scoop, but that may vary depending on the brand.

  3. Step 3

Blend for 30 seconds or so.

  4. Step 4

Add the frozen blackberries and banana and blend for another minute or so, until shake is thick and frosty.

  5. Step 5

Mixing your protein shake in the blender will cause it to be a bit foamy. Some brands of protein powder create more foam than others. If the foaminess bothers you, you can let the shake sit in the refrigerator for ten or fifteen minutes, and some of the foam will dissipate.
