Parental controls let you feel good about your child's computer time.

Modern versions of Windows include parental control features that enable parents to limit what times their children can access a computer and what games and programs they can use on it. Setting time limits can prevent children from logging onto a computer when you don't want them on. You can set different time limits for different user accounts and change the allowed times depending on each day's activities.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button and then click "Control Panel."

    • 2

Click "Set up parental controls for any user" under User Accounts and Family Safety.

    • 3

Click to select the account for which you want to set a time limit.

    • 4

Click "On, enforce current settings" under Parental Controls to turn the controls on.

    • 5

Click "Time limits." A grid opens. Click and drag the hours you want to block and allow. Save your changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • the default for a computer is net user Morris /time:all.

  • I'm just using Morris as an example use the user name of the person you wish to use this on.

  • This only restricts when a user may log on to the system. However, this will not force a user to log off when their time allowed ends.

  • You can get a third party parental control software that can handle this for you. You can find some average ones online for free, but for the best control you will need to pay for it.
