Turkey is a staple of Thanksgiving dinner.
Turkey is a staple of Thanksgiving dinner.

The mounds of mashed potatoes and stuffing may entice low carb dieters too much at Thanksgiving, not to mention the pies and sweet drinks. Learn how to eat low carb at Thanksgiving and maintain your healthy diet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Turkey
  • Vegetables
  • Cauliflower
  • Will power
  1. Step 1

Focus on turkey for your Thanksgiving meal, but skip the prepared or canned gravy. Instead, spoon out the turkey drippings over your meat. Not only are they full of flavor, but they are naturally low carb.

  2. Step 2

Skip the potatoes, yams, stuffing and green bean casserole. They are all loaded with carbs. Bring a casserole of vegetables and cheese or head for the fresh veggie tray and pile them on your plate with a delicious low carb dip.

  3. Step 3

Drink water, coffee or tea or diet sodas only. Avoid ciders, wines and other alcoholic drinks. You can celebrate the season without getting drunk or consuming lots of carbohydrates.

  4. Step 4

Bring a crustless cheesecake for dessert. Made with cream cheese, eggs, flavorings and sweetener, this choice is low carb and very yummy. Or practice your will power and skip dessert entirely. Not many desserts are low carb.
