- Loofah sponge or washcloth
- Baking soda
- Lemon juice or lemon
- Toothbrush

Step 1
Exfoliate your palms with a loofah sponge or washcloth. This will get rid of the dead skin cells and reveal healthier new skin. Your skin should also be less orange.

Apply a bit of baking soda to a washcloth and rub it over your palms. Make sure to get in between your fingers where self-tanner collects easily. Baking soda is a safe and gentle to use for exfoliation and will speed up the turnover of dead cells and the loss of tanner. If you don't have any baking soda available, you can also use an exfoliating face or body scrub. These products are safer and gentler to use than bleach or hydrogen peroxide and other products with harsh chemicals.

Step 3
Soak a cotton ball in lemon juice and rub it over your palms. You can also cut a lemon in half and rub it directly on your palm. Lemons contain citric acid for exfoliating and also has natural bleaching properties.

Step 4
Scrub your fingernails with baking soda on a toothbrush or a dab of facial cream bleach. The area around the fingernails collects self-tanner and usually turns a darker orange or brown. Removing dead skin around your nails with a cuticle clipper also helps get rid of the color.
