Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Place plastic sheets on the floor and over any furniture to make debris easier to clean.

  2. Step 2

Set the ladder in the location you want to start removing tiles. Climb ladder and balance yourself under target tile area.

  3. Step 3

Insert the pry bar into the joint between the ceiling tiles. You may need to use a hammer to tap the pry bar into the joint.

  4. Step 4

Push down on the pry bar to force the tile from the ceiling.

  5. Step 5

Place the scraper on the ceiling at a 45-degree angle and begin detaching the surrounding tiles.

  6. Step 6

Push the scraper between the tile and the ceiling or use the pry bar if you cannot get the scraper under the tiles.

  7. Step 7

Continue using the scraper and pry bar until you have removed all of the tiles.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear eye protection to avoid getting pieces of tile and debris in your eyes.
  • Pulling too hard with the pry bar may pull out sections of drywall that you will need to repair.
  • Using a scraper that is too sharp can damage the existing plaster or drywall.
