Coconut juice, also referred to as "coconut water," is the juice that comes from the inside of a coconut. The coconut juice is used by many individuals who are athletic to replace electrolytes that are lost through perspiration. You can also use the coconut juice from green coconuts to help cleanse and detox your body. Not only will you be detoxing your body using the coconut juice, but it will also increase your potassium levels and your metabolism, which can result in weight loss.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Purchase some young green coconuts from your local Asian food market. Each green coconut will contain about 1 liter of coconut juice. You should drink 8 to 10 glasses of coconut water each day of your fast. Be sure to purchase enough coconuts to last through your fast.

  2. Step 2

Open the coconut shell by puncturing the "navel" of the coconut with a knife or other sharp object. You can click on the link in the "Resources" section of this article to watch a video that details how to open the coconut without losing any of the juice.

  3. Step 3

Pour the coconut water immediately into a cup or glass and drink it. Do not allow the opened coconut water to be exposed to air for more than a couple of minutes, since the air will rob the juice of its nutritional value.

  4. Step 4

Avoid adding sugar to your coconut juice. If you need to sweeten your juice, use stevia, which is a natural sweetener.

  5. Step 5

Avoid drinking tap water while on your coconut juice fast. Use distilled water.

  6. Step 6

Continue drinking the coconut juice every day until you have completed your fast. When you feel you need to eat something, try drinking a soup, eating a light salad, or eating nuts such as pumpkin seeds or almonds.
