Large grommets are easy to add to curtain panels by using grommet pliers to punch in the grommets, much like using a paper hole puncher. Large grommets now come in a variety of finishes and colors to complement any decor. Grommets can even make curtains and your room look more modern by using bright silver grommets that slide over a sleek silver curtain rod. Large grommets make curtains easy to slide open and closed, making them a functional and stylish addition.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Determine how much space you want between the grommets, and measure and mark accordingly using the fabric pencil. If your curtain panel is 60 inches wide, for example, and you want to space the grommets 3 inches apart, you'll need 20 grommets per curtain panel.

  2. Step 2

Cut a slit at each point on the curtain where you marked for a grommet, making sure the slit is not larger than the grommet you will be installing.

  3. Step 3

Insert a grommet into the grommet pliers per the manufacturer's instructions. Position the tip over the first slit, and squeeze the pliers (similar to a hole puncher) to install the grommet. Continue until all the grommets have been installed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose large grommets in a finish that matches your curtain rod, such as brass, silver or bronze.
  • Large grommets can usually slide directly over the curtain rod, but you can also attach them to the rod via rope, drapery rings or decorative S hooks.
