How to Serve Yellow Tail Merlot

Yellow Tail wines are increasing in popularity in the United States. Made and shipped from Australia, this particular merlot is a young wine that typically carries flavors of fruit such as plums, cranberries, and black currant with a hint of mint, cloves, and/or bay leaves. Merlots in general are preferable with pasta and poultry dishes and are served at room temperature or lightly chilled in an ice bucket.   • Bottle of Yellow Tail merlot
  • Ice bucket
  • Ice
  • Cloth
  • Wine glasses

Instructions

    • 1

      Place the merlot in an ice bucket an hour before leaving and cover with ice cubes.

    • 2

      Remove the merlot and wipe off water and condensation with the cloth.

    • 3

      Place back in an ice bucket at the dinner party until dinner is served.

      Pour slowly and deliberately into wine glasses, being careful not to slosh around to prevent destruction of the bouquet.

      Drink with your meal and afterwards.

Tips & Warnings

  • If no ice bucket is available, store in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before leaving, and then as long as possible, not exceeding another 30 minutes before the dinner. You can also leave out at room temperature if desired. With pasta dishes, room temperature is preferred.
