Tips & Warnings

  • As an alternative to mixing oregano oil into a drink to treat ailments, you can apply two to four drops of oil directly under your tongue and let it sit there for 5 to 15 seconds. Wash it down with an 8 oz. glass of water, milk or juice. Repeat as needed to treat the ailment.

  • Oregano oil can have a very spicy taste. If the oil is overwhelming in your drink, consider mixing it into a soup, stew or salad to hide the taste more effectively.

  • Drink 8 to 12 glasses of water per day while practicing an oregano oil regimen. The water will flush any bacteria killed by the oregano oil from your system.

  • Regular consumption of oregano oil can reduce the body's ability to absorb iron. It is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking a regular regimen of oregano oil, consider also taking an iron supplement.

  • Like any food product, some people can be allergic to oregano oil. If itching or burning skin, rashes or vomiting occur, stop taking oregano oil and consult with a doctor.
