Tips & Warnings
As an alternative to mixing oregano oil into a drink to treat ailments, you can apply two to four drops of oil directly under your tongue and let it sit there for 5 to 15 seconds. Wash it down with an 8 oz. glass of water, milk or juice. Repeat as needed to treat the ailment.
Oregano oil can have a very spicy taste. If the oil is overwhelming in your drink, consider mixing it into a soup, stew or salad to hide the taste more effectively.
Drink 8 to 12 glasses of water per day while practicing an oregano oil regimen. The water will flush any bacteria killed by the oregano oil from your system.
Regular consumption of oregano oil can reduce the body's ability to absorb iron. It is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking a regular regimen of oregano oil, consider also taking an iron supplement.
Like any food product, some people can be allergic to oregano oil. If itching or burning skin, rashes or vomiting occur, stop taking oregano oil and consult with a doctor.
