How to Make Zebra Ears

Kids love to play dress up, especially when they dress up as their favorite animals. Zebras, with their unusual markings, are popular with kids. Zebra ears are easy to make, but since this activity requires the use of scissors and a hot glue gun, adult supervision is recommended.

Things You'll Need

  • Plastic headband
  • Two 8 1/2- by 11-inch sheets of black craft foam
  • White duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue sticks

Instructions

  1. Making the Ears

    • 1

      Holding the two sheets of black craft foam together, cut out the ears. Make sure the ears stretch from the top of the sheet to the bottom and come to a point at one end and a squared off, blunted shape at the other end. Holding the two sheets together ensures the ears will be the same size.

      Cut two smaller diamonds out of the white duct tape and adhere to the center of the ears.

      Glue the bottom, or squared off, end of each ear to the headband, using the hot glue gun. Allow to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are having trouble with the ears standing up, color two Popsicle sticks black and glue to the back of the ears, starting where they meet the headband.
