The MPC 2000 is an awesome digital music production device that can process loads of sound samples at one time so that a musician can create entire beats with a single machine. There is a built-in memory card to save data, however, if you need more space to store samples and songs, you can connect an external SCSI zip drive that has more memory than what's inside the MPC 2000. Saving songs to the zip drive is easy, so you can store your information and get back to creating music.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • External zip drive
  • SCSI zip drive cable (compatible with the MPC 2000)
  • Zip disk
  1. Step 1

Connect your MPC 2000 and the external zip drive by plugging both ends of the SCSI cord into the SCSI ports on each device.

  2. Step 2

Plug the external zip drive's power adapter into a wall socket and turn it on.

  3. Step 3

Insert a zip disk into the external hard drive.

  4. Step 4

Start up the MPC 2000 and press the "Shift" and "3" (Load) buttons simultaneously to load the beat you want to save to the external zip drive.

  5. Step 5

Press the "OPEN WINDOW" button to open the folder that contains all the sound files and the beat that you want to save.

  6. Step 6

Press "F5" and enter a name for the folder in which you want to put the files and then press "F5" again to save the folder under the name you just entered.

  7. Step 7

Highlight the folder you created and press "OPEN WINDOW." Once the folder is opened, you can save the files into it.

  8. Step 8

Press "F2" to begin the saving process. The default value is "SAVE ALL SEQUENCES & SONGS."

  9. Step 9

Press "F6" (the "DO IT" command) to save the beat program, which is the information that determines values in the beat like the tempo (beats per minute) and the individual notes that are played in the song.

  10. Step 10

Use the wheel to scroll to "SAVE ALL PROGRAMS AND SOUNDS" and press "F6" to save the program with all the samples that will appear on the beat.

  11. Step 11

Press "F5" to confirm the save. Allow the beat to save and then you can go back to editing your beat or start another project.
