Instructions

    • 1

Look at the floor plans and table design layout of your venue. Decide where to set up the tables and draw them into the plans.

    • 2

Decide on a color scheme that coordinates with the party's theme and existing color palette. Lay down a tablecloth of a matching color. Choose a centerpiece and place it in the middle of the table. Flower arrangements, ice sculptures and fruit arrangements are all popular choices.

    • 3

Start on one end and set out the plates, silverware and napkins so guests can grab the essentials quickly. Set out tiered stands for each dish to rest on. Elevate the food to create different levels, which is more appealing to the eye and creates depth.

    • 4

Fill in the spaces between the stands. Use flowers, candles, mirrors with sequins, stones or rhinestones and other small decorative items.

    • 5

Place the dishes on the stands. Garnish each plate with parsley, fruit, lettuce leaves or fresh flowers.

    • 6

Create tags for the food and make them on the computer or write them out by hand on folded cardstock. Set each card in front of each corresponding dish.

Tips & Warnings

  • Set up two identical buffet table sections on opposite ends of the venue to speed up the process and avoid a backed-up line.
