Finding a land-line phone number has become much easier since the onset of the Web. There are dozens of yellow pages and white pages on-line that can help you find a traditional phone number with very little information. Finding a cell phone number, however, can be much more difficult. Many people consider their cell number more private than their home or business number, and don't release that information for public consumption. There are also very strict laws protecting the privacy of cell numbers. But there are a few methods you can use to find the cell number you are looking for.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet Access
  1. Step 1

Try networking with friends and family. Someone in your social or family network may have your intended contact's information, or know how to get it.

  2. Step 2

Enter the name of your party into a social networking website such as MySpace or Facebook. If the person has a profile on the site, he might publish his cell number, or you could contact him through the site to get his cell number. In addition, you and the person you want to contact might have a friend or associate in common that you could reach out to.

  3. Step 3

Check out an on-line directory such as Whitepages.com. If the cell phone number is publicly listed, you should be able to find it here as long as you have some personal information for the party you are seeking, such as name and location.

  4. Step 4

Visit the National Cellular Phone Registry on-line. This site is designed specifically for the purpose of registering and finding cell numbers. You will need some of your party's personal information to perform the search.

  5. Step 5

Enter the name and location of the party you want to contact into a search engine such as Google or Yahoo. She might have a personal or professional website that lists the number. Or there may be a site that refers to your party and offers her contact information.

  6. Step 6

Use an on-line locator service. For a fee, some websites will give you access to restricted databases that contain more private information than traditional directories.
