How to Change a Ford Fuel Filter
A fuel filter tends to get clogged after years of running gasoline through it. When it's time to replace the fuel filter on your Ford, you'll find that it is not a troubling task. The filter is conveniently located underneath the body along the frame rail. You need only a socket wrench to pull off the mounting bracket. This five-minute job will help you to operate a fuel-efficient vehicle.

Removing the Fuel Filter

Locate the fuel filter near the bottom of the car, usually along the frame rail on the driver's side.

Disconnect the quick release on the outlet end of the fuel filter. The line has a quick-release tab, which you turn and twist to pull off. In some cases, there is a tab that you must lift in order to pull the connector off.

Disconnect the inlet end of the fuel filter by pulling the quick-release connector.

Unbolt the filter mounting bracket with a socket wrench. The filter will come loose.
Installing the Fuel Filter

Place the new filter where the old one was. Ensure that the arrow is pointing toward the front of the car. This arrow indicates the flow of gasoline.

Mount the bracket around the filter and to the car. Tighten the bracket with the socket wrench.

Slide the inlet hose to the back of the filter. The quick connect will snap in place. Test to make sure it's attached properly by trying to pull the fitting off.

Slide the outlet line to the front of the filter. Slide the quick connect until it clicks. Try to pull the fitting off to ensure it is on tight.

Crank up the car. Inspect for any leaks around the filter.
