Tips & Warnings
  • Burglars know most hiding places. They look under beds, in drawers and even in the freezer! If you don't want to use a home safe, hide small valuables in empty food containers or in a carved-out book.
  • Portable home safes are easily carried off by burglars. Keep your safe out of sight.
  • Store only costume jewelry in a jewelry box.

on 8/8/2006 Find a bank that has a safe deposit Box that is close to your house or Job. Make sure what items are going into the safe wheather it be important docments, jeweler or herelooms pieces. If you dont want a safe to be just under your name in case of emergancy. Sigh the safe deposit box with a other person you really trust. Put important docments in a zip lock bag in case the bank has a flood its very rare but it could happens. Put Insurance in expensive Jewelery such as weeding bands and diamonds in case there is a robbery you could get some money for your jewelery or herelooms pieces. Make a list of the things you put into the safe deposit box and the value of jewelery or other Herelooms pieces or a estamate of the pieces. Dont put Things that you might need at any moment such as passports or power of Attorney papers because banks are close in holidays and some at the night . But Make copies of those papers and put the copy papers into the safe and keep the real ones. Make sure if you change address or telpnone numbers that the bank Knows about it because a lot of times when they dont find the onwer(s) the things that are in the safe deposit box go to the state and sometimes after a while sold on auctions if nobody clames them . I hered its sad what people leave behind such as weedind bands engraved, baby jewelery ,and watches. Make sure you pay the box because if you dont pay it after a while the bank may contact you to pay. Or they will just send items to the state and sold for auction dont let that happen please because it's sad and not smart. Check at least once a year the safety deposit box and things that are inside of it. Banks dont look what's inside the safety deposit Box but just for you to stay informe whats in the safety deposit box. You may go at what ever time the bank is open and as much as you want. Could be once a week once a month or everyday .Nobody could tell you how many times you could go to your safety deposit box.
