    Things You'll Need

    • Soft cloth
    • Bottle brush
    • Long brush
    • Glass cleaner
    • Dustpan
      • 1

Turn the stove off, and allow it to cool completely.

      • 2

Remove ashes from the side and front of the fire box. You can vacuum the ashes or brush them out using a soft bristle brush and dustpan.

      • 3

Remove the ash pan by turning the two knobs on the front. Discard ashes into a non-combustible container. Make sure all embers have cooled completely.

      • 4

Close the door to the stove, then clean the heat-exchanger tubes. Scraper rods are on the front face of the stove. Pull the rods back and forth until no ashes fall from them. Push the scraper rods in completely before using the stove again.

      • 5

Use a bottle brush to remove ash from the fire box and exhaust channels.

      • 6

Clean the exterior of the stove with a soft, damp cloth. You can use glass cleaner on the glass in the door.

      • 7

Clean the through-the-wall kit after every ton of pellets. Clean the pipe from the outside. Remove the rodent cap, and use a long brush to remove all build-up.

      • 8

Clean the side exhaust channels after every ton of pellets. Remove each access plate by loosening screws until you can lift the plate slightly and slide it until the larger hole aligns with the screw. Use a bottle brush to gently remove debris, then replace access plates.

      • 9

Clean the motors and blowers once a year. They will collect lint and dust over time, which causes excessive noise and can shorten the life of the motors. Scrub the blower-wheel veins with an old toothbrush, and use a vacuum hose attachment to remove dust, pet hair and debris.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Jamestown sells a cleaning kit that comes with wire brushes and an attachment for your vacuum cleaner. The company strongly suggests that you purchase this kit r to properly clean your stove.

    • The brick-pattern boards inside your stove should not be cleaned with a hard bristle brush. Do not scrape soot off of these boards as it will damage them. Use the vacuum hose adapter from that Jamestown cleaning kit to gently remove soot.
