How to Decorate Portable Toilets

Designate at least half the portable johns for women only. Your female guests will appreciate this. Arrange fresh flowers in the urinal in each women-only portable toilet.

String lights in each john. Use twinkle lights for a daytime event. For an evening party, opt for Japanese lanterns or something a little brighter so your guests don't have to fumble around in the dark.

Create a false ceiling with lightweight tulle in a color of your choice. Use museum putty or double-stick tape to attach the lightweight fabric to the plastic ceiling of the portable toilet. Use a piece of fabric about three times the size of the ceiling. Gather it at the corners and let this extra fabric hang down. You can let the light shine through this, or string the lights on the outside.

Hang a mirror inside the door of each toilet. This is handy for checking lipstick or straightening hair.

Arrange the portable toilets behind a trellis screen. Decorate the trellis with fairy lights or silk flowers. Set a potted palm or hibiscus outside each outhouse. Finish off with a lighted tiki torch.
