This dessert is like floating on a cloud of chocolate. Light and fluffy chocolate with bits of chewy coconut flakes and crunchy pecan pieces, what could be better?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Prepare and measure out the ingredients:

    * 1 envelope of unflavored gelatin
    * 1/4 cup of cold water
    * 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate, melted
    * 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
    * 1 cup of milk, heated
    * 3/4 cup of sugar
    * 1/4 teaspoon of salt
    * 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    * 2 cups of heavy cream, whipped
    * 1/2 cup of finely chopped pecans
    * 1/2 cup of flaked coconut

  2. Step 2

    Soften the gelatin in the cold water, set aside.

  3. Step 3

    Mix the chocolate and powdered sugar together in a saucepan.

  4. Step 4

    Gradually mix in the milk.

  5. Step 5

    Heat over low heat, stirring constantly. Do not boil, but bring it just to the point of boiling.

  6. Step 6

    Remove from heat, and add in the gelatin mixture. Stir until it's completely dissolved.

  7. Step 7

    Mix in the sugar, salt and vanilla flavoring.

  8. Step 8

    Chill the mixture until it thickens.

  9. Step 9

    After it thickens, beat the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.

  10. Step 10

    Fold in the heavy whipped cream, pecans and coconut, and put it in a 2 quart serving bowl.

  11. Step 11

    Prior to serving, garnish with whipped cream and chopped pecans if desired. Serve chilled and store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
