Things You'll Need:
- Assortment of vintage glass beads
- Vintage or newer buttons and charms, found objects, etc., optional
- Chain necklace
- Wire
- Flat nose pliers
-
Step 1
Gold wire to match the gold chain necklace.Gather the supplies listed in the Things You’ll Need section. Use whatever looks good together. There are no rules when making these types of vintage necklaces.
-
Step 2
An assortment of vintage glass beads, buttons, charms, and more.Look through the assortment of vintage glass beads and other items such as buttons, charms, and so on. Choose components that look good together but don't necessarily match all of these items. A little contrast is good.
-
Step 3
Beads and buttons on wire.Cut the wire into pieces about 3 to 4 inches long. Begin threading the beads and buttons on the wire. Be sure to use wire that matches the necklace.
-
Step 4
Affix wire securely to the chain.Twist the ends of the wire together on the necklace so the beaded wire is securely attached to the chain necklace. Make sure the ends of the wire are at the back of the necklace and are tucked in so the wire won't poke the person wearing the vintage necklaces.
-
Step 5
Button wired to the chain necklace.Continue adding beads and components to the chain necklace in a random pattern that looks good to you.
-
Step 6
Vintage button.Offsetting or staggering the beads, buttons, and charms gives a modern look to the vintage necklaces.
