Dr Seuss nursery and toddler’s books are written and designed to tech children color, letters, numbers and reading using simple concepts and vocabulary. Dr Seuss books are filled with fun characters, one of them the “Cat in the Hat” has entertained generations of children for years.

This book is for children who have started to read usually between the ages of 4 to 5. Decorating a baby or a toddler’s bedroom with the “cat in the hat” theme will comfort and entertain any child. Use these steps to decorate a bedroom in Dr. Seuss cat in the hat style.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read Dr. Seuss “Cat in the Hat” book to understand the setting and flavor of the story. The story takes place in a rainy afternoon in a home with a young boy and his sister. The children are alone in the house and the cat comes in to play and transforms the house into a playground of sorts. Using the story setting and colors make a decorating plan for the bedroom.

  2. Step 2

Paint the bedroom walls using main colors in the “cat in the house” story. The colors used through out the book are blue in a soft tone, red and white. Blue is the dominant color in the illustration of characters, things and ideas. The cat is the main character and he wears a very tall hat in red with some white stripes and he also wears a red necktie.

  3. Step 3

Use blue as the main wall color and add small red stripes if desired. Alternatively, use only the soft blue color and add some red accessories to the wall and red curtains.

  4. Step 4

Place portraits of the cat in the “cat in the hat” on the wall. Use one large picture or a few smaller ones through out the larger walls in the kid’s bedroom.

  5. Step 5

Use “cat in the hat” theme accessories through out the bedroom. Buy “cat in the hat” crib bedding, cushions, lamps, plush toys, hand puppets, and small accessories for the dresser and side tables. Make these accessible to the children for playing and fun time.

  6. Step 6

Write some favorite “cat in the hat” quotes. Use a computer and a color printer to print these quotes in large red ink. You can also buy “cat in the hat” computer paper which already has the red designs printed. Place the printed quotes on any of the walls or on the bedroom’s door.
