Santa Pail

The Santa Pail is a quick and easy Christmas craft that will be the hit of any family gathering. This craft is a great centerpiece for a table; it also works great as a decoration for the Christmas tree or hanging from the mantel.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White pail
  • Peach felt
  • Pink felt
  • Red felt
  • Small strip of white craft fur
  • 2 wiggle eyes
  • Small white pompom
  • Small pink pompom
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black permanent marker
  1. Step 1

Start with a white galvanized pail. If you are not able to locate a white pail you can simply paint a pail with spray paint.

  2. Step 2

Next you will need to cut your felt to make the Santa Pail.

The peach felt will be cut in to form the face. Make a rectangle the size of your pail and round the bottom of one end to make the chin.

Your red felt should be cut into the shape of a triangle. The base of the triangle should go from one side of the pail hanger to the other.

Your white felt will need to form two eyebrows and a mustache.

Finally your pink felt will form the cherry cheeks just cut two circles the same size as your pompoms.

  3. Step 3

After you have all your felt pieces cut you will need to glue the pieces onto the pail to make the Santa Pail. Glue all the pieces with the hot glue gun making sure not to burn yourself.

Start with the peach face. Make sure the straight edge of your triangle is just under the lip of the pail.

Now glue the cherry cheeks to the peach felt at the bottom. Make sure you leave room between them for the nose.

After the cheeks are glued on you will need to glue the mustache on. The top of the mustache should cover half of the cherry cheeks.

Now glue the pink pompom on Santa to for the nose. This should be above the mustache and between the cheeks.

Next you will need to glue the eyes to your Santa Pail. These should be right about the pink pompom nose.

To finish the face of your Santa pail you will need to glue the two white eyebrows about the wiggle eyes.

  4. Step 4

To make the Santa hat you will need to first glue the edge of the red triangle to the inside of Santa pail with your hot glue gun. Take the top of the triangle and bend it so that it comes down at an angle just above the top rim of the pail. Glue the white pompom to the tip of the triangle. Now glue the white craft fur around the pail rim. This will finish the hat for Santa.

  5. Step 5

Fill the pail with candy and display on the tree or as a table top decoration. Don’t forget to sign and date the bottom of the pail so you can have this as a keep-sake for years to come.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to burn yourself on the hot glue.
