Reindeer Pail
Reindeer Pail

This reindeer pail is a great way to dress up a party table around the holidays. This pail is handy for treats to be displayed and also helps dress up a plain package. If you have several children to give gifts to you can hang these great little reindeer pails around the Christmas tree fill each with candy of your choice. As an added treat for older kids you can include money in one or all of them, the hardest part of this is keeping the children from peeking.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Galvanized pail
  • Brown spray paint
  • 2 wiggle eyes
  • Fine tipped Black permanent marker
  • Red craft foam
  • Brown craft foam
  • Dark Brown craft foam
  • Green ribbon
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun
  • Candy
  1. Step 1

The first thing you will need to do to make a reindeer pail is paint your galvanized pail brown. Make sure you use a paint that works on metal. For this step spray paint will be the easiest and give a smoother finish.

  2. Step 2

Once your pail is dry you can begin adding the face for your reindeer pail.

First cut an oval from your red craft foam. It should be about an inch wide at the longest point and about half an inch across. You can use your own judgment on the sizes since the pails may be different sizes.

Next you will need to glue the wiggle eyes directly above the nose with a hot glue gun.

Under the nose you will add the mouth with a black permanent marker. You can use the picture above as a reference of how I made the mouth. Again this is a personal preference and yours can be a big smile if you prefer.

  3. Step 3

Finally your Reindeer pail will need a little hair. To make this his hair, using the dark brown foam just cut a random shaping. This will be glued above the reindeer eyes with half of the hair extending over the edge of the pail.

  4. Step 4

You will need to cut two ears from the brown foam. Make a line about a quarter of an inch inside the edge of the ears with your black permanent marker to add a little definition.

  5. Step 5

The reindeer antlers will be cut out of the dark red foam. Again just a random shape looks the best.

  6. Step 6

Now glue the ears to the inside lip of the pail where the hair ends, behind the ears glue the antlers.

  7. Step 7

To finish off your reindeer pail you will need to make a bow from the green ribbon and glue it under the mouth of the reindeer at the bottom of the pail. Some people like to add another ribbon bow on the handle of the pail also.

  8. Step 8

Make sure you use your permanent marker to sign and date the bottom of your reindeer pail so you will have memories for years to come. If you are giving this as a gift you my also want to write the name of the person you are giving it to on the pail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue.
