Learn what caused frontal hair loss. In rare cases it can result from an iron deficiency or other disorder. Doctors now know that most frontal hair loss is caused by the hormone DHT or dihydrotestosterone. Some men are more sensitive to DHT than others and some have more DHT in their bloodstream. Ask your doctor about using the drug **** or finasteride as it is called by it's generic name. Finasteride reduces the level of DHT in the bloodstream and may reduce frontal hair loss. Numerous studies have shown that **** is effective in reducing overall hair loss, though it is considered more effective for hair loss at the top and rear of the head than for the frontal area.

Ask your doctor about using Rogaine or minoxidil as it is know generically. Minoxidil increases scalp circulation and may not regrow frontal hair but may slow hair loss. In one study a 5% solution of minoxidil was shown to reduce frontal hair loss in approximately forty percent of trial subjects.

Use a shampoo containing the drug ketoconazole. Nizoral shampoo contains ketoconazole and is available over the counter in a 1% solution and in prescription form at 2%. Studies have shown that 2% ketoconazole shampoo used on the scalp every three days was as effective as minixidil in preventing hair loss. Ketoconazole works by reducing the amount of DHT in the scalp and may help with frontal hair loss.
Other treatments that may help with frontal hair loss are oral and topical saw palmetto extract, laser hair combs and finally hair transplants as a last resort. For information on the effectiveness of saw palmetto see the resources section below.
