Step 1

List a few topics you are interested in on a piece of paper. Narrow them down to ones you think others might be interested in too. This encompasses most topics, so do not worry about popularity right now.
Step 2

Plug a basic keyword for each one into the Google Adwords keyword selection tool found at Google. You will get a list of keyword phrases and their corresponding monthly search volume.
Step 3

Pick any keyword with more than 500 or 1,000 searches per month and plug it into Google search engine. Find the keywords with the lowest number of results possible. These keywords with high search volume and low competition are great for niche blogs.
Step 4

Create a blog whose title and domain name has the search term in it. Write content that includes that keyword as well as associated keywords from the list you found with the Adwords tool.
