With today's internet boom, you can buy domain name for cheap or even for free.
Prices of domain name registration have been going down over the years. Today, prices are so cheap on domain names that almost everyone can afford to have their own domain name.

Follow along the steps below to help you buy domain name cheap.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

** Look into cheap web hosting, not cheap domain name registration **

Many people confuse buying domain name for cheap with finding cheap website hosting. The domain name registration itself is often only a few dollars. You spend a lot more on the monthly domain name hosting, so spend your effort finding cheap web hosting instead of cheap domain name buying.

  2. Step 2

** Choose an extension other than .com **

Although .com is the most well known URL extension, you can buy cheap domain name with an ending other than .com. Check out prices of different extensions such as .info which is often a cheap domain name extension. Note: Many extensions are more expensive than .com, so be sure to check out the price before assuming you are saving.

Sample extensions you may want to check out include .net, .org & .biz.

  3. Step 3

** Go for .com instead of an international extension **

Often times .com is cheaper than a country extension. For example, a domain name ending in .uk or .eu can be more expensive than a .com. So you may want to buy a .com even if you are international.

  4. Step 4

    ** Use a subdomain for free **

Many websites offer subdomains that you can use for free as your own personal domain without buying a domain name at all. The format would be mypersonaldomain.mainwebsitedomain.com This could be a great way to start off a website before you buy a domain name of your own.

  5. Step 5

** Get a cheap or free domain name with website hosting **

Check out website hosting that offer cheap or free domain name registration if you host by them. Many of these offers are available and can be find by doing a simple web search.

  6. Step 6

** Buy domain name for many years **

You can register the domain name for many years instead of just the minimum of 1 or 2 years. This would make each year's registration a little cheaper.

  7. Step 7

** Get free domain name parking **

Some web hosts will let you park a domain name for free on their server which means your domain name will come up with some kind of "under construction" or "coming soon" page when people click on it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to do your research and find the best domain name before buying. Don't waste your money by buying and later finding out there is a problem with the name you bought.
