Step 1
Place 4 to 6 cups of water in a pot on the stove. Add the peels from 1 or 2 oranges, 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon of whole cloves and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Bring the contents to a boil and then reduce the heat so it will just simmer. Be sure to keep an eye on it so the water doesn’t boil out and cause a fire. When the water gets low, add more. When the scent diminishes, repeat the process. Never leave this simmering on the stove when you leave your house or fall asleep.
-
Step 2
Heat your oven to 300°. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on an oven safe pan, bowl or a sturdy piece of aluminum foil. Shut the oven off and place the pan, bowl or aluminum foil with the ground cinnamon in the oven. The cinnamon will give off a delicious aroma like that of baking cookies.
-
Step 3
Fill a basket with Fir branches cut into pieces and pine cones. Arrange them in your basket and leave around the house.
-
Step 4
Save orange, lemon or lime peels. Allow them to dry for 2 to 3 days. Add them to your fireplace along with a dry pine cone or 2 when having a fire.
