What a great feeling to open the door to your home and have the aroma of Christmas greet you or your guests. Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It inspires us to reach out to family and friends, have holiday gathering and have excitement fill the air. In my house the scent of Christmas is always there to greet me.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place 4 to 6 cups of water in a pot on the stove. Add the peels from 1 or 2 oranges, 3 to 4 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon of whole cloves and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Bring the contents to a boil and then reduce the heat so it will just simmer. Be sure to keep an eye on it so the water doesn’t boil out and cause a fire. When the water gets low, add more. When the scent diminishes, repeat the process. Never leave this simmering on the stove when you leave your house or fall asleep.

  2. Step 2

Heat your oven to 300°. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on an oven safe pan, bowl or a sturdy piece of aluminum foil. Shut the oven off and place the pan, bowl or aluminum foil with the ground cinnamon in the oven. The cinnamon will give off a delicious aroma like that of baking cookies.

  3. Step 3

Fill a basket with Fir branches cut into pieces and pine cones. Arrange them in your basket and leave around the house.

  4. Step 4

Save orange, lemon or lime peels. Allow them to dry for 2 to 3 days. Add them to your fireplace along with a dry pine cone or 2 when having a fire.
