How to Clean Foggy Wine Glasses

Drinking wine out of foggy wine glasses is an unpleasant experience. Not only are foggy wine glasses unattractive, but also the soap residue that remains on the glass can affect the integrity of the wine you are drinking.   • Large pot
  • White vinegar
  • Warm water

      Fill the pot with white vinegar.Make sure that that the bowl is full enough to cover a wineglass if it is laid across the bottom of the pot.

      Immerse as many glasses as possible into the vinegar bath. You may have to repeat this process more than once if you can only fit one or two glasses into the bath.

      Allow the glasses to soak in the vinegar bath for up to three hours, turning if necessary to ensure that all parts of the glass's surface get a thorough soaking.

      Remove the glasses from the vinegar bath.

      Wash the glasses gently in warm water with a clean cloth, using only a drop of mild liquid detergent per glass. Be sure to use a great deal of water to avoid the liquid soap clinging to the sides of the glass and leaving marks again.

      Rinse the glasses thoroughly with warm water, giving extra attention to the interior bottom of the glass where soap often collects.

      Soak the glasses in a vinegar bath again for another two hours if you find that any residue remains.

  • Always wash your wine glasses by hand to avoid scratches, cracks and breakage.

  • You should only ever have to rinse your wineglasses to clean them, but if soap is necessary only use the mildest liquid dish soap you can find.

  • Never use a harsh or abrasive cleanser on your wine glasses; harsh powders can scratch the surfaces of delicate stemware.

  • Never wash wine glasses with hot water

  • Never wash wine glasses in the dishwasher as the hot water can cause damage to the integrity of the glass.
