Visit the AVG Free download website using the link in the "Resources" section of this article.

Under "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition," click the button labeled "Get it now."

Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and click the "Download" button.

Click the button on the left-hand side of the screen labeled "Download Now." This will bring you to the download provider for AVG. Click the "Download Now" button and save the file to your desktop.

Double click the downloaded file, for example, "avg_free_stb_all_9_39_cnet.exe." If prompted by Windows click "Run."

Choose your language, and click "Next." The AVG Free setup program will check to confirm that you have an active Internet connection.

Click the radio button labeled "Install only basic free protection," and click "Next." The files needed to complete the installation will be downloaded. This may take several minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.

Examine the license agreement. If you agree to it, click the check box labeled "I have read the license agreement," and click "Accept." The program will continue installing.

Click the radio button labeled "Standard Installation," and click "Next." Click "Next" again.

Decide whether you would like to install the AVG Toolbar, and click "Next."

Click "Finish" to complete the installation after AVG downloads any available pdates.
