How to Read an LH Surge Test
When you and your partner are trying to conceive, it is essential to know when you ovulate. The best time, in fact, to try to conceive is actually just before you ovulate. In order to determine when this time is, it may be beneficial to you to use a lutenizing hormone predictor kit. Your LH surges just before you ovulate, indicating that it is your best time to try to conceive.

Place the testing strip or cassette on a non-porous surface before reading the results. A bathroom countertop or the edge of the sample cup are good suggestions.

Wait the designated time on the box after you have collected your sample before reading the testing strip or cassette. If you read the results prior to the designated amount of time, you may get false information.

Make sure that the control line clearly shows up. If the control line doesn't appear all the way, or at all, you may have not collected enough sample or you may have a faulty test.

Compare the test line to the control line. In a positive result, the test line will be an equal darkness or darker than the control line. A negative result will be if the test line is of a lesser darkness than the control line or if there is no test line at all.

Discard the testing strips after the designated amount of time is over. The results are no longer valid once the time limit is over. Reading the test after the time is over can result in inaccurate results.
