How to Use Distilled White Vinegar to Stop Tearstains
Tearstains are a problem predominantly seen in white dogs or those with facial wrinkles. Tearstains are caused by an excess of bacteria and yeast. Bacteria and yeast thrive in moisture and tear ducts are a natural place for them to grow. The stains can be caused by environmental or food allergies or a reaction to pH levels or minerals in the dog's water. Some dogs have a genetic predisposition to excess tears.

Tips & Warnings
Some dogs do not like the taste of vinegar. If your dog appears to be avoiding its water, start with a smaller amount of vinegar and slowly increase.
Discuss excess tear staining with your veterinarian. Tearstains can be the result of blocked tear ducts, which may require medical attention.
It is important to determine the correct cause of the stains so they do not reappear.
