How to Send an Invitation to Get Windows Live Messenger

        Launch Windows Live Messenger. Enter your username and password to log in.

        Click the person-shaped icon at the top of the screen with a green plus sign superimposed. You can confirm that you have the correct icon by hovering the mouse pointer over it. A pop-up box saying "Add a contact or group" will appear.

        Click "Add a contact."

        Type the email address of the person you would like to invite into the "Instant messaging address" window. A new window titled "Send an invitation to [email address]" will appear.

        Type a message into the box labeled "Include your own message." This will ensure that your friend knows the invitation is from you and not generated by a spammer.

        Put a check into the box labeled "Also send this in email in case this person doesn't have Messenger yet."

        Click "Send invitation." Your friend will be sent an email asking them to join you on Windows Live Messenger.
