Whiteheads are a kind of acne that forms on the skin when oil, dead skin and other impurities build up in the pores. Both adolescents and adults can get them resulting in a beauty disaster. The best method of removal is via a visit to your dermatologist or beauty professional, who can remove the whitehead without leaving any lasting scars or damage to your skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Steam your face to open up your pores and ready the whitehead for removal. Moreover, the steam will soften your skin so that you can deeply cleanse your face once the removal process has been completed. Steam your face in the shower or by placing it over a sink full of hot, steaming water. You can also purchase facial steamers from beauty retailers.

  2. Step 2

Prick the top of the whitehead with a sterilized needle. Then, place a cotton ball on either side and very gently squeeze around the base of it to get some of the pus out. This is similar to the common method of squeezing a whitehead, but with greater attention and care to detail. It is this attention to detail that will ensure there are no lasting remnants of the acne and reduce the chance of scarring.

  3. Step 3

Wipe the area down with alcohol. This will not only remove any leftover bacteria from the area, but also guard against future breakouts, infection and/or scarring. Be sure to only put the alcohol in the area where the breakout occurred, since it can dry out your skin, which can lead to other skin issues.

  4. Step 4

Wash your face with facial cleanser. This is an important step because particles from the pus in the whitehead can spread to other parts of the face. Moreover, the cleansing process will help to prevent future breakouts from occurring, particularly in that same spot.
