  1. Make Friends

In the virtual world known as Sims 2, relationships are key to throwing not just a good, but a great party. No relationships, no party-or at least a good one. Before attempting to throw a party have your Sim go out and find friends. Build relationship scores by talking, joking and playing games with other Sims. Once you have made friends with at least two other Sims, it's safe to throw your first "House Party."

Once your game is loaded and you are at your Sim's virtual home, have him/her purchase a virtual buffet table, and be sure to fill it with goodies before your guests arrive. Throwing a party with food will help keep your guests happy, and happy guests equals a good party.

Sims like to "shake their groove things," so if you haven't done so already, buy a virtual stereo. Make sure the music is playing when guests arrive. A sure fire way to get the party off to a good start is to dance the "Smussle." To dance the "Smussle" click on the stereo and choose the "Smussle" option, once your Sim is doing this dance click on other Sims and have them join in and let the fun begin!

Mingle, mingle, mingle. You'll lose points if your Sim ignores its guests. Talk, joke, dance or play games with your guests. Make sure you do a positive action with each guest before the clock runs out. Fighting or getting caught having an affair during your party are two sure fire ways to ensure your party will be a flop, so avoid these two actions at all costs if you want to have a successful party.

Is your Sim throwing a party for a special occasion? If this is a birthday party, make sure the baby, toddler, child, teenager or adult grows up during the party. If your throwing an engagement or wedding party make sure the couple gets engaged or married while guests are still there. Are sports the reason for your party? If so, make sure the television is on the sports channel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Before throwing any party, make sure your Sim is clean, has an empty bladder and has a full bar of energy. Throwing a party takes a lot out of your Sim and you want to make sure that he is able to be with the guests at all times, not spending precious party time in the bathroom. Another way to keep guests happy is to purchase a virtual bar prior to the party, and hire a Sim bartender.
