How to Make Pinhole Spectacles

Pinhole glasses reduce the amount of blur and thus drastically improve vision. They work the same way squinting does, yet without straining your eyes. These simple instructions explain the construction and effects of do-it-yourself pinhole glasses. Try making a pair for yourself and see how pinhole spectacles can surprise even your own eye doctor.

Things You'll Need

• Pair of old glasses
• Small screwdriver
• Cardstock paper
• Needle or pin
• Tape

Instructions

1. Purchase cheap sunglasses or find old ones

2. Use the small screwdriver to remove both lenses from the frames and subsequently replace the screw.

3. Trace the glasses over the cardstock paper to create an outline for new frames.

4. Cut out the lenses. Be sure to adjust them to size so they nearly fit into the frames.

5. Poke numerous holes (with the needle or pin) into each cardstock lens. You should aim for about 70 or more per lens.

6. Place the lens over the frame and carefully tape along the edges of the cardstock to the edges of the frame. Try not to cover any holes.
