Selling furniture can be easy if you have the proper resources. Platform beds are a trendy type of bed frame, requiring only a mattress placed on a flat wooden base or wooden slats. Platform beds come in a variety of shapes and sizes and materials. Many people living in small apartments or lofts enjoy platform beds because they don't take up a lot of space. Targeting people who live in these types of apartments will greatly increase your sales of platform beds.

Things You'll Need:

  • Photos of the Bed
  1. Step 1

Take photographs of the platform bed you wish to sell. People are more likely to purchase an item they can see in a photograph rather than from a description.

  2. Step 2

Explain the advantages of a platform bed over a regular metal frame bed. Some people may be enticed by the fact that the platform bed sits lower to the ground and does not require box springs. Point out that many platform bed frames allow for storage under the bed, which may be an important space saver to many people.

  3. Step 3

Find a location online to post an advertisement for your platform bed. You may want to find a local newspaper or other publication that contains local classified ads. This will help you sell the platform bed in your area. Websites, like Craigslist, offer a free posting service in most cities to advertise goods for sale.

  4. Step 4

Advertise your platform bed. You should include a detailed description of the item, including the materials from which it's made, the age of the bed, any damage or flaws, and other applicable information. You should also include pictures of the platform bed in the posting, as well as the price. Include a way for those interested to contact you.

  5. Step 5

Respond to interested buyers as soon as possible. Building a communication base early is important to make the consumer feel more welcome and trusting. Discuss a time and place to meet with the potential buyer to answer any questions and show them the platform bed in person.

Tips & Warnings
  • Locate a good website or physical location to post information about your platform bed. Seek a place where people in your target market are most likely to shop.
  • Don't accept personal checks from people you don't know. It is harder to track them down if the check bounces and is more unreliable than accepting cash or credit cards.
