How to Kill Maggots on an Animal

Maggots are fly larvae and look like small, white worms. They are typically found around garbage, but animals that are very dirty or that have open wounds can attract them as well. With a little work, you can eliminate them from your animals.

Instructions

    • 1

Clip the animal's hair as short as possible. This gives the maggots fewer hiding spots.

    • 2

Remove all visible maggots from the animal, using the tweezers. Place them in the plastic freezer bag, label it clearly, and put it in the freezer to kill the maggots.

    • 3

Bathe the animal thoroughly, using a pet shampoo that contains permethrin.

    • 4

Use a pyrethrum spray or powder if the problem persists.
