How to Clean a White Macrame Purse

Some people enjoy making purses out of macramé knots and the variety of different macramé cords lends a beautiful flair to handbags and purses. Over time, a white macramé purse may become soiled. When this happens, clean it carefully to restore it to its former beauty.
Things You'll Need
- Dryer
- Vacuum cleaner (with hose attachment)
- Clean cloths
- Water
- Dish-washing soap
- Small bowl

Empty the purse of all contents and place it into the dryer. Set the dryer to an air-dry cycle (no heat) and turn the dryer on. Dry the purse in the dryer for approximately ten minutes and remove it. Drying the purse in the dryer will loosen dust within the knotted cording.

Use the vacuum cleaner and the hose attachment to vacuum the nooks and crannies of the macramé purse. The vacuum cleaner will remove trapped dust from the cording.

Mix one cup of warm water and two to three drops of dish-washing soap in the small bowl. Dampen the clean cloth with the soapy water and use it to spot clean the macramé purse. Work at any stains with the cloth until they disappear. Dab at the stained area with another cloth saturated with plain water to rinse the area after removing the stain.

Tips & Warnings
Do not wash a macramé purse in the washing machine unless you have specific washing instructions that recommend this. Many types of macramé cord will shrink or deteriorate if machine-washed.
