How to Hang Kerosene Lamps

Kerosene lamps were among the first types of efficient lighting, better than traditional candles and oil lamps. Their usage only lasted about 40 years before they were replaced by gas lamps. However, many kerosene lamp designs were lovely and offered many shapes, sizes and forms, including hanging kerosene lamps.   • Hammer
  • Nail
  • Screw hook
  • Hanging kerosene lamp

Instructions

    • 1

      Determine where on the ceiling you would like to hang the kerosene lamp.

    • 2

      Hammer a nail approximately ¼ inch into the predetermined point to begin a hole into which you can screw the screw hook.

    • 3

      Place the screw hook into the started hole and twist the hook to screw it completely into the ceiling. Make sure the handle of the lamp fits in the hook before installing.

    • 4

      Hang the handle of the kerosene lamp onto the hook.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pull on the hook once you screw it into the ceiling to test the firmness and security of the hook before hanging the kerosene lamp from it.

  • Ensure that the screw hook is securely fastened to the ceiling before hanging the kerosene lamp to prevent it from falling and breaking.
