How to Sharpen a Coffee Grinder

A difference in the flavor of your coffee may be caused by dull blades in your coffee grinder. A coffee grinder with dull blades cannot properly grind the beans. The sharper the blade, the finer and fresher the cut or grind of the coffee. Regular cleaning and sharpening will maintain the proper functioning of the grinder, which will result in flavorful coffee. Cleaning and sharpening can be accomplished using the same method, and at the same time.

Things You'll Need

• 1 cup uncooked rice
• Damp cloth
• Dry cloth

Instructions

1. Pour one cup of uncooked rice into the coffee grinder.

2. Grind the rice for up to one minute, just as you would with the coffee beans.

3. Discard the ground rice.

4. Unplug the grinder and wipe the blades with a damp cloth, and then with a dry cloth.

Tips & Warnings

• The blades on a coffee grinder are sharp. When wiping clean, unplug the grinder to prevent injury.
