Don't feel like spending too much money, or ANY money at all? Are you okay with second-hand items? Are you a used-item shopper on Amazon, Ebay or a similar site? Have you ever set foot in Salvation Army or Good Will, trying to find a great bargain? If you answered yes to ANY of those questions, you're in the right place!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to http://craigslist.org - It may or may not ask you for your location, depending on whether you've been to the website before.

Once you're in your location, look at the "For Sale" section. This section is split into two columns. Look at the column on the left and count nine rows down to the "free" category. Click it.

The image will show you where to find the "free" category, circled in red.

  2. Step 2

Clicking the "free" link will lead you to the listings page. If you're searching for something specific, you may want to focus on the gray section above the listings. I highly suggest you select "has image" so you can see the quality of the item.

Considering that everything on this page is supposed to be FREE, there is no need to enter a price minimum or maximum.

If you decided to set your preferences, click the "search" button. Make sure you didn't switch out of the "free stuff" category on the drop down box.

  3. Step 3

Ready to get something free? Simply scroll down on the page and click on what appeals to you. In this example, I decided to pick on the old tv cabinet.

Click on the link that appeals to you.

  4. Step 4

Once you click the link, you will see a page similar to the image attached to this step. This page should have a description of the item.

IF the description does not provide a phone number, e-mail address, or another way to contact the person who posted the item, simply click on the blue link above the description (the link will have a set of numbers and/or letters followed by "@craigslist.org")

    OR

Copy the email address provided by craigslist and send the person an e-mail.

    GOOD LUCK and have fun!

PS - BE CAREFUL WITH SHARING YOUR INFORMATION. Like any other website, someone might try to SCAM you.
