Step 1
Step One
The simple rule is that an “s” on a very makes it singular and if there is no :”s” on the verb then it is plural. Plural means more than one and singular means one. A verb is the word that shows action in a sentence. -
Step 2
Step Two
The singular subject accepts the verb with an “s” on the end of it because the verb is now singular. The rule of adding an “s” to a verb is the direct opposite of adding an “s” to a noun. An “s” on a noun makes it plural but an “s” on a verb makes it singular. -
Step 3
Step Three
Beware of subjects that are embedded in prepositional phrases. Even though the subject may be a part of a phrase, it is singular and a singular verb should be used. The subject is usually a noun and if it is singular, then the verb or action word must b singular by adding a “s.”
