Teach Podcasting

A podcast is basically an online radio show. Kids love making podcasts because they are simple to make and a lot of fun. Podcasting is also a great introduction to film/moviemaking. I use a program called Garageband on Mac for all of my podcasting, but you can also do it on a PC. The closest thing to Garageband on a PC is a program called Audacity. Here is how to teach your students podcasting with Garageband.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a Mac computer with Garageband installed. Most Macs will already have Garageband.

  2. Step 2

    Open Garageband.

  3. Step 3

    Click on Podcast.

  4. Step 4

    Name your podcast.

  5. Step 5

Hit the record button and start speaking. Hit the record button again when you are done recording.

  6. Step 6

Add sound effects or music to your podcast.

  7. Step 7

Export the podcast to MP3 format by clicking on "Send to iTunes." This will convert your podcast to MP3 format, and you can then email the file to others or put it on your iPod.
