If you’re a work at home mom or dad, a Brother fax machine is probably a very handy tool to have. A home fax machine prevents you from having to run to the local copy store when the need to send or receive a fax arises. The only downside to having office equipment in the home is that it can be loud. There’s nothing like hearing the ring of the fax machine at 3:00 am just after getting the baby back to sleep. If you own a Brother fax machine, here’s how to adjust the volume.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the volume button. On Brother fax machine models 1550MC, 1450MC, 1550MC, 1950MC and 1850MC the volume button is located on the upper right hand side of the machine. On the fax-560 model it’s located in the central area of the right-hand side of the front panel.

  2. Step 2

Depress the L (for Low) button until the indicator and the sound is adjusted to the right level. Remember, when the entire house is quiet, even a low setting may sound loud.

  3. Step 3

Download the Brother fax machine manual if you cannot locate the volume button on your particular model of Brother fax machine. Brother makes quite a few different models of fax machines so there’s no telling where all of the volume buttons are located. If you cannot find your original manual, Brother has them all online free of charge. Navigate to their website and access the Manual download page. Search for your fax machine model and download the appropriate PDF file.
