Step 1
Start out by going to New York in Mafia Wars. You will want to spend all of your money on properties and the items that you need to complete missions. Each time you log in, you will want to make sure that you spend as much money as possible on properties so that you do not just have money sitting there. When other Mafia Wars players attack you, they can take your money if they win.

Step 2
Next you will want to go to Cuba and Moscow on Mafia Wars. Take all of the money that you have left over from completing missions and from your businesses and put it in the bank. No other Mafia Wars players can take money from you if it is in the bank no matter how many times they beat you in a fight.

Step 3
Before you log out of Mafia Wars, make sure that your character is in Cuba or Moscow. In New York, you gain money every so often and it can be taken away when you lose a fight even if you are not online but in Cuba and Moscow you have to collect your money from your businesses. When a Mafia Wars player attacks you, you will only lose money from the area that your character was left in so if you leave your character in New York, you are leaving yourself wide open for an attack. If you leave your character in Cuba or Moscow and have put all of your money in the bank when you were finished, you will be safe and no other Mafia Wars players will be able to take your money when they fight you.
